RenewIT presented at Uptime Institute meeting Norway
April 29, 2015
The RenewIT project was presented at a meeting of the Uptime Institute’s European network held in Stavanger, Norway on the 21 to 23 April.
The meeting was a great opportunity to present the project to a group of expert datacenter owners and operators and get feedback on the practical issues of increasing the proportion of renewable energy used by datacenters. The location of the meeting in Norway was especially relevant given that the more than 95 percent of the country’s energy is derived from renewable hydropower.
In addition the project involved a visit to the Green Mountain datacenter in Stavanger which uses sea-water cooling – one of the energy efficiency cooling scenarios being explored in the project.
The project was presented by Andrew Donoghue, European research manager, 451 Research and a number of contacts were made with the potential to involve more datacenter operators and owners in the development of the RenewIT tool and the other outcomes from the project.
